  6.   Having participated in the most refreshing musical show of
  7. the previous season, On Your Toes, Messrs. Rodgers & Hart were
  8. felicitated for having picked a novel notion this season for the
  9. first show they ever provided with a book as well as songs and
  10. lyrics, Babes in Arms. Lyricist hart -- never topped since he
  11. observed in 1925 that "beans cold get no keener reception in a
  12. beanery: bless our mountain greenery home!" -- still maintains
  13. the lightest touch in the business. As usual, the Rodgers
  14. melodies are fresh as a May wind, artful and surprising as the
  15. flight of a barn swallow. George Balanchine's ballets,
  16. particularly a long dream dance, continue to set marks for more
  17. serious masters to shoot for.
